Each class is at 10:30 in the morning and lasts 45 minutes. Yoga is particularly beneficial for stress management. Each movement focuses on exercising and stretching the limbs, releasing endorphins to reduce stress, and ensuring you focus on the breath.
Mindfulness in yoga comes from focusing on the passage of breath throughout the body and following through with the movement of each pose. Concentrating on your breath can relieve the stress and anxieties of managing your senior life.

You‘re warmly invited to join Shoreline Villagers for a special morning at beautiful Chatfield Hollow State Park (381 CT-80, Killingworth). We‘ll gather at 10:30 AM in the red building near the dam, at the Oak Lodge nature center, where indoor picnic tables are available if the weather turns rainy.
We‘ll enjoy an engaging talk by James Power, who will share fascinating stories about Shaumpishuh, the remarkable female sachem of the Quinnipiacs, and her essential role in Guilford‘s history.
Bring your picnic lunch, relax with friends old and new, and experience the park‘s natural beauty. We‘ll have a wonderful time together, whether the sun shines or the rain falls.
We can‘t wait to see you there!

The Metropolitan Opera‘s production of Richard Strauss‘s "Salome", ( FYI, the opera will be broadcast live two days later at the Kate in Old Saybrook on Saturday, May 17.)
Stephanie Venturino is an assistant professor of music analysis and
musicianship at the Yale School of Music. Her research focuses on twentieth-
and twenty-first-century French music, the history of music theory, music
theory, and aural skills pedagogy. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and edited collections by the Cambridge University,
Routledge, and University of Rochester Presses. Stephanie regularly presents her work at conferences. Stephanie holds a Ph.D. in
music theory and a B.M. in classical saxophone performance from the Eastman
School of Music.

We‘ll enjoy a moderately challenging one hour walk on the Branford Quarry Trail that entails some climbing and uneven footing. From Route 146 in Stony Creek, drive north on Quarry Road for 3/4 mile; we’ll meet in the parking lot on the right. Please register to be informed of any changes: info@ShorelineVillageCT.org or text 203-747-5939. We‘ll gather for coffee at the Sky Diner, 30 Leetes Island Road (in front of Stop & Shop) after the walk. Rain cancels and "CANCELLED" will be posted on the Website at 8:00 AM for clarification. If the walk is cancelled the gathering at the Sky Diner is also cancelled.
